The private view of Toby Latham’s latest exhibition was declared a resounding success by all last night. With excellent attendance and a number of sales to private collections already secured by the end of the evening, the works on display met with high praise from critics and visitors alike.
Speaking ahead of the event, Susan Williamson, Director of Temple Works said of Toby and his work: “A striking sense of space and place dominates each piece, with clear references to Toby’s journeys in Asia, specifically Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia..You won’t pass either by his studio – or his paintings – lightly, as he encourages you to step inside his world.”
Meanwhile, the artist, pictured (above right) with Helen Smith of Art Points North, enthused “I am blown away by the overwhelmingly positive response to my new works and by the interest and coverage the exhibition has received.”
The exhibition is now open at Temple Works, Marshall Street, Leeds and runs until Sunday 22 September 2013.
